A place for contemporary explorers of life seeking the intrigues and mysteries of Peruvian culture, geography and nature, Hotel B caters to traditionalists looking for an authentic historic atmosphere and to shrewd urban explorers willing to immerse themselves in the city´s contemporary social and cultural scene.
An arts-boutique Hotel in the heart of a bohemian revival neighborhood, housing a unique art collection of its own, Hotel B is surrounded by neighboring galleries and linked directly to the Lucia de la Puente Gallery, which will provide guests with opportunities for private viewings, special events and a connection to Lima’s blossoming art scene.
Originally built in the style of the Belle Époque, the mansion served as a seaside retreat during the presidency of Augusto Leguia in the 1920s. Its architectural features and flair capture the celebratory spirit of Peru’s centennial, which permeated life in the capital city throughout the era of its construction.
Famed French architect Claude Sahut, lauded for his work remodeling portions of the Government Palace, along with many of Lima’s main avenues, parks, theaters and other public buildings and spaces, was originally commissioned to design the property as a summer retreat for the Garcia Bedoya family. Construction was completed in 1914 and initially showcased imported Italian marble and exotic woods, along with an ornate façade, stratospherically high ceilings featuring teatinas (a unique style of skylight favored locally), open balconies and expansive terraces.
The Arts Boutique Hotel B restoration and reconstruction team includes sculptors from the Fine Arts Academy and a legion of carpenters under the supervision of an Italian master woodworker. The goal of the project was to preserve the original structure while introducing a complimentary three-story annex to the property, ushering it into the modern era in its new role as a boutique hotel. The INC (Peru’s Historic Building Society) considers the renovation a new standard for historic restoration in Lima and beyond.
Surrounded by galleries and artists’ studios, it houses a unique art collection of its own and is linked directly to the Lucia de la Puente Gallery, where guests can enjoy private viewings, special events and a vital connection to Lima’s emerging art scene.
The heart of a bohemian revival neighborhood
Lima’s most vibrant district. Now home to many of Peru’s best-known artists, musicians, designers and photographers, Barranco first emerged in the 19th-century as a fashionable seaside retreat for Limeño aristocracy. They summered here amidst the salty air and a drier, warmer microclimate, as the high cliffs of Chorrillos shield Barranco from Lima’s cold and humid southern winds. Families like the Garcia Bedoyas built grand Belle Époqueand Republican style houses around the area’s landscaped parks and along elegant avenues. When 20th century urban expansion encroached upon this elite enclave, those wealthy Limeñans moved out and squatters took up residence in the abandoned, decaying mansions.
Barranco’s fortunes shifted again in the new millennium thanks to a dynamic migration among Lima’s arts community, including fashion photographer Mario Testino, Nobel Prize winning author Mario Vargas Llosa and gallerist Lucia de la Puente. Fresh coats of paint on many of the area’s most charming colonial houses signal this vibrant revival.

“Diyabubula means “bubbling fountain” – there is a bubbling spring on the property. Diyabubula also symbolizes the power of the earth and the creativity bubbling up in this magical location.”
Diyabubula, the Barberyn Art & Jungle Hideaway, is a small luxury lodge, a boutique hotel consisting of five villas, located near the town of Dambulla, in central Sri Lanka. Renowned Sri Lankan artist Laki Senanayake designed the place as a hideaway to compliment his water garden. He chose 100 year old railway sleepers as basic building material. This wood, seasoned by sun and rain over a century, has been combined with sleek and beautiful timber sourced from all over Sri Lanka, and hand-crafted right at Diyabubula.
We share this beautiful oasis with Laki: he continues to live and work in his minimalist space.

From the great wide world to the smallest detailTHE OMNIA – All individual parts come together here high on the rock to form an atmospheric whole. The location, the architecture and the design are one component. But the most important element is you, our guest, with your individual wishes and needs to which we respond with personal service in an informal way. Here you should feel at ease, you should quite simply be yourself. This is the place for unvorgettable moments in calmth and harmony. Welcome!
THE OMNIA is the contemporary interpretation of the traditional mountain lodge. Here in the Swiss Alps, the mountain lodge, a quintessentially American concept, has been reinvented for its European environment by the New York based architect Ali Tayar (1959 – 2016). This dialogue between two cultures was the starting point for the design.
While the materials and the craftsmanship reflect the tradition of the Valais, the furnishings are inspired by a warm, handcrafted modernism. This era in 20th century design is revisited in THE OMNIA in the works of a group of European born, American designers whose European roots heavily influenced the American scene. They include Mies van der Rohe, Raymond Loewy, Vladimir Kagan and Eero Saarinen. Their works are complemented by USM Modular Furniture, which is recognised as a design classic in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. But most of the interior furnishings and fittings are custom-made designs by Ali Tayar, conceived to meet the requirements of the mountain lodge and handcrafted by local cabinet makers.
This subtle interplay between design classics and custom-made products underscores the basic concept of the mountain lodge – THE OMNIA is the fusion of a multitude of different elements and influences to make a single harmonious whole.
Here you can forget time.

Olu Amoda is an internationally celebrated Nigerian sculptor, muralist, furniture designer, and multi-media artist whose iconic work using repurposed materials and metal expresses the very best of modern African sensibility. Amoda was born in Warri in the Niger Delta in 1959 to his father, a goldsmith, with whom there seems to be evidence of some subtle interdependence of a ‘flaming’ strength drawn from the sole element of consanguinity apparent in the art of both father and son.
He graduated in sculpture from Auchi Polytechnic in 1983, and was awarded a Masters of Fine Arts from Georgia Southern University in the United States in 2009. He has worked as an Artist-in-Residence in Villa Arson in Nice, France (2000), the Bag Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa (2003), at the Appalachian Statue University, in Boone, North Carolina (2006) and at the New York Design Museum (2010).
His work is housed in local and international collections including with the New Ark Museum in New Jersey, USA.. He has exhibited around the world, including at the Skoto Gallery and at the Museum of Art & Design in New York, at the Georgia Southern University in the United States, at the Didi Museum, Alliance Francaise, Goethe Institute & the Nimbus Art Centre in Nigeria, at the 6th Biennale de L’Art African Contemporain in Dakar, Senegal, at The World Intellectual Property Organization [WIPO] Headquarters, in Geneva, Switzerland, and with the current touring exhibition of “out of the ordinary” organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in the United Kingdom.
