HOUSE OF EARTH AND SKY by Aidlin Darling Design - poetic spatial relationships, material richness, and exacting detail.
This sustainable home celebrates the intersection of earth and sky. One enters below grade and ascends vertically through the ground to arrive in a series of glass pavilions, anchored by rammed earth walls and sheltered under kite-like floating roofs. Wood floors, ceilings, and cabinetry provide a sensual layer within the rough walls and surrounding gardens.
Ecological responsibility guided the design of this LEED-Platinum, Net Zero Energy home. Earth walls utilize on-site material resources and provide thermal mass. Lightweight roof planes orient photovoltaics toward the sun, guide rainwater to cisterns, and provide shade through calibrated overhangs. High-efficiency envelope and mechanical systems and greywater recycling further support the ecologically sensitive design.
Aidlin Darling Design bridges the demands of artistic endeavor, environmental responsibility, functional pragmatics, and financial considerations. As a multidisciplinary firm, we believe that innovations discovered through the process of design and construction can be applied to projects of any scale, use, or purpose.
Partners Joshua Aidlin and David Darling have cultivated a team that strives to deliver the highest level of project management, service, and design. Our approach is client and site specific, and questions conventional assumptions. A collaborative process with clients, consultants, fabricators, and builders allows an open and impassioned exploration and enables a clear understanding of appropriate solutions. In each project, we seek to uncover an inherent spirit of place and interpret constraints as catalysts for performative design. The individual character of each project emerges through poetic spatial relationships, material richness, and exacting detail.

SEASIDE ABODE BY NORM architects - minimalism acquires softness and visual matter assumes haptic qualities.
Scandic-Bohemian feels and barefoot luxury is found in this renovated and modernised coastal home in a quiet and secluded corner of Denmark, where Japanese zen aesthetics and danish cottage style charm come together, boasting subtle, nordic luxury and eclectic design elements.
Norm Architects was founded in 2008. We work in the fields of industrial design, residential architecture, commercial interiors, photography and art direction.
Much like human well-being, the essence of Norm Architects’ work is found in balance—between richness and restraint, between order and complexity. Each project—whether architecture, interiors, design or creative direction—is imbued with the same intrinsic quality: a simplicity that carries bigger ideas. Guided by the body and mind rather than by trends or technology, our projects explore ideas that not only look good but that also feel good: Architecture becomes thoughtful, minimalism acquires softness and visual matter assumes haptic qualities. Our work is sharp and crisp and exudes, tacitly, our focus on quality, details and durability.
Situated in one of the oldest streets of Copenhagen, Denmark, we respect our context and build on the traditions of Scandinavian design—of timeless aesthetics, natural materials and upholding Modernist principles of restraint and refinement. Through exploring what it is that heightens the human senses regardless of personal preference, our projects strip spaces, objects, ideas and images back to their simplest form. Our expertise lies in finding the balance—when there’s nothing more to either add or take away.

We see design as a balance of analysis, innovation and habitation – where ideas emerge almost as an inevitable consequence of a full understanding of context, site and brief.
Our vision is to create beautiful architecture where the site and building merge so that you can no longer imagine one without the other.
Design Engine is an award-winning partnership founded by Richard Jobson, Richard Rose-Casemore and Rodney Graham. Established in 2000, our Winchester-based studio has been sculpting award-winning, dynamic architecture in the education, business, public and private sectors, with projects in local, national and international arenas.

Mono Apartments by Note Design - Our aim is to create rooms that signal a certain emotion as you enter.
Mono by and for Glommen & Lindberg is a housing concept situated at the centre of the designer-dense south-central Stockholm district of Södermalm. Mono stands out, in Sweden as a whole and in Södermalm, not only in terms of design and atmosphere, but also in the way it was conceived.
Mono is situated in a part of Södermalm that is still relatively unknown, but that is now becoming populated with young designers, entrepreneurs and architects. It is also an integral part of a lively cityscape that offers a great many functions and content such as offices, services and housing. The type of cityscape that urban planners and architects are striving to create in other parts of town is very much in existence here right now.
Mono has a more continental than a Scandinavian feel to it. Site-specific solutions and a distinct style are more important than passing trends and Swedish standard solutions. All features and solutions are tailor-made – the choice of wood as well as everything down to each individual door handle has been selected to suit its purpose.
We are highly conscious of the fact that unique solutions and well-integrated interiors are sustainable in the long term. It is a conviction that informs the firm’s interior and design solutions. Each room features unique solutions with references to design classics.
