Sometimes words are just not not needed because the eyes witness: well, the indescribable.
The first 3 words we usually utter after seeing objects of sublime beauty is: 'I want that...'
Once again DesignBuzz announces a lighting creator from the Czech Republic. Brokis is one of a new generation of Czech lighting creators bravely pioneering some of the most original offerings available today.
The company has won many international awards for it's products, it's creations are present in over 70 countries around the world, it employs over 100 people in two traditional glassworks... one look at it's products and it is easy to see why the 10 year old company has seen such rapid success.
Not only is Brokis on a mission to change the future through bold contemporary lighting, it is also very much focused on preserving a glorious history. Concepts by thought-leading Czech and International Designers are brought to life by master glassmakers trained to the most exacting standards of traditional Bohemian glass production- in this manner every piece of lighting from the company connects the visionaries of today with the knowledge of craftsmen and women from centuries past.
Brokis introduces itself as follows: 'Brokis stands for the synthesis of exquisite design, superior quality, and the remarkable craftsmanship of Bohemian glass artisans.'
It's this simple; lighting from Brokis will contribute in a major way to the transformation of any project into a cutting-edge contemporary space but it is the - in this case - not so intangible presence of history that will truly enrich your soul.
Funky needn't be a by-word for cheap and colourful needn't necesasarily originate from 'colour-blind'.
You can bring some carefully orchestrated vivaciousness into any sophisticated environment without cheapening your sanctuary if the materials and the forms of the spirited elements give a firm nod to authenticity and quality.
Alberto Bellamoli is an Italian industrial designer that graduated from Kolding Design School in Denmark. He has a passion for creating designs that would hold their own in any gallery from the traditional italian material Terrazzo (Google describes the material as: 'flooring material consisting of chips of marble or granite set in concrete and polished to give a smooth surface').
Alberto's unique creations will work well as centrepieces in restrained spaces and will look a dozen times more expensive than what you will pay for them. He is certainly a star in the making who has embedded himself in his raw materials and not just the process of creating out of them (we love his photographic tributes to Terrazzo).
Grab a slice of him while he is still affordable because this young designer is destined for great things. Here is his website: www.albertobellamoli.com
Over the last two decades, the acclaimed international designer Marcel Wanders has added his stardust to a range of products and projects that range from lighting by Flos to kids high chairs by Cybex, he has designed interiors for quite a few luxury hotels too.
It goes without saying that Marcel has saved some really cool ideas for the collections presented by the brand he co-founded: MOOI.
The Dutch purveyor of accessible high end elements is synonymous with quality and modern confidence. Where else could a hazy mix of colours - that sit somewhere between a hippy daze and grandmas's flowery kitchen napkins - result in a modernity and depth fusion the likes that we struggle to find in much of the ubiquitous and awfully snore inducing minimalist contributions on the scene currently.
Marcel Wanders and MOOI don't do the lacklustre. These carpets are reasonably priced but indeed they are unreasonably beautiful and will last a lifetime. Visit MOOI today at: www.moooicarpets.com
Design at it's best grabs one and plugs it's questions deep into the innermost reaches of our souls. The greatest ingenuity of humankind can only be discovered through the acceptance that no one is born an absolute genius. We reach our peak only through openness to vulnerability and embracing deep humility that allows a talented creator to observe and contemplate like a beginner for painfully long periods until the truly remarkable slowly comes to life.
LASVIT is one such force - their stated mission is to transform glass into breathtaking lighting and design experiences. Every LASVIT project - private or commercial, be it lighting or crystal walls or even sculpture - every project from the Dubai opera house to a boardroom in France - every LASVIT project takes our breath away. Every LASVIT installation brings glass to life.
If there was a Nobel prize for design then these guys and girls from the Czech Republic should get one right away. Check them out at www.lasvit.com
Niclas Jørgensen is a young and very talented Danish designer who is fast making a name for himself with his silently rebellious lighting masterpieces.
Having developed what has been described as the new Nordic approach, Niclas successfully strikes a balance between traditional Scandinavian design philosophy and a modern outwardly seeking minimalism that would be just as at home in Madrid as it would in Malmo.

It is no secret that when it comes to design Italy is the gift that gives eternally. Having said that it is possible to find the ultra-amazing amongst the best; the moments that truly are memorable in a country where impressive is as common as Fiats. Antonio Lupi's sanitary ware represent the elite of the absolute best of Italian creativity. We at DESTIG would probably spend more of our lifetimes cleaning them than we would cleaning myself in them.
An appearance at this week's Maison Objet Paris by Artur is one of the highlights of a fantastic event. His works communicate quite tangible poetry in their visual impact whilst remaining striking in their simplicity.
