Educational furniture manufacturer British Thornton has announced the launch of new anti-bacterial furniture for nurseries.
The new furniture Design features a child friendly anti-bacterial coating, with a surface treatment that includes properties that prevent bacteria from living on the surface of panels.
The aim of the newly designed ‘Trudy’ range is to significantly reduce the bacterial count found in furniture, especially in nursery environments.
The new range, which was designed by the company’s team, led by product design director Jonathan Clark, builds on the success of British Thornton’s existing trudy brand, which was first launched in 2008 and boasts annual sales figures of around £3m.
Gerard Toplass, CEO of British Thornton, said: “We were very keen to expand our offering to include a suite of Products specifically designed for nursery children and our design team has worked tirelessly to bring this to life.
“It’s safe to say that we’ve all been blown away by the result – the quality of the craftsmanship is second to none and we feel this will really fit with what nursery managers are currently looking for. We can’t wait to see the furniture in nurseries up and down the country.”
Furthermore, British Thornton has successfully launched its new design hub, which was completed at the back end of last year. Based at its Keighley site, the ‘Hub for Innovation and Design’ has expanded its Studio design capacity by 25%.
Established in 1967, British Thornton designs and manufactures furniture for the education sector out of its facility in South Street, Keighley.

Using reclaimed, authentic aircraft parts, from both military and civilian aircraft steeped in history, Fallen Furniture take pride in exploring the most innovative ways to breathe new life into these remarkable feats of engineering to design and create pieces of art and furniture.
Each piece of Fallen Furniture is meticulously crafted with an emphasis on originality and personality, resulting in a distinctive and decorative tribute to aviation heritage and engineering, guaranteed to intrigue, to captivate, and to inspire conversation in any home or place of business.
With a strong belief in design as applied art – there to be used as well as admired – inspiration is drawn from a number of different periods: from the Art Deco movement of the early 1900s to the Parisian craftsmen creating robust industrial furniture and lighting in the 40s, to the 21st century eco design movement.
A design process and ethos has been born that centres on celebrating a single, beautifully engineered aircraft part and marrying it with an eclectic mix of sustainable metals, woods and textiles to create a truly unique product of elegance, functionality and modernity.
Working from a restored 17th century building on the outskirts of the creative heritage city of Bath, a strong focus on British manufacturing and craftsmanship is adopted, with all elements of production based in Britain. This enables complete quality control over every piece that leaves the workshop.

Moschino has partnered with the iconic Italian furniture design company Gufram to realise live-in versions of some of it's most famous pieces.
The collection is called Moschino Kisses Gufram and will be released at the forthcoming Milan Design Week.
The biker cabinet is an interpretation of Moschino’s trompe l’oeil biker jacket handbag and the heels are a bookshelf and a ottoman. This playful and iconic collection celebrates pop culture in true Moschino style and will impress your guests through familiarity scaled up to surreal proportions.
Born to satisfy the demand of a private customer, it’s been featured since then on dedicated - but not only - magazine covers, and it is still displayed in the most unconventional houses in the world, and in the important museums around the globe. We’re talking about Bocca, the famous red sofa shaped as giant lips.
Getting their inspiration from the 1935 Portrait of Mae West by surreal artist Dalì, as well as from the hot red lips of Hollywood stars, Studio 65 architects achieved a masterpiece destined to become an object of cult. Pop DNA, a sensual and provocative soul, feminine and elegant aspect. Bocca is among the most sought-after, loved, and imitated products of home furniture. The 1970 original is exclusively by Gufram.
Since 2008 Bocca comes in two new versions: Dark Lady e Pink Lady. The first - rebellious, all black and with an oversize piercing - is the transgressive interpretation, with a marked gothic inclination. Voluptuous and of great impact, Dark lady shows its rock spirit.
The other version, Pink Lady, comes with a new lipstick of a more glamorous and fashionable colour - fuchsia - which makes it a settee that is even more the object of talk; the ideal setting for a spectacular glittery modernity.
To celebrate its first 50 years of work in 2016, Gufram introduces a special limited series of only fifty Bocca sofas. Retaining its iconic shape, inspired by the red lips of the Hollywood divas, this new GOLD edition emphasizes the brand’s important landmark, and enriches even further an object welcomed into the most beautiful homes and most important museums in the world.

Whoever wants to talk about the future must first know about the past. Behind every success are dedicated people with a wealth of ideas who want to create something together. And behind every success is a vision pointing towards the common path to the future.
After more than 60 years, we look back on our beginnings, on the progress of our company - from a single upholsterer to one of the most important upholstered furniture manufacturers in Europe. At the same time we give an insight into a company with a solid past and a promising future.
Perhaps it is because we now believe comfort to be even more important? In any case, we see genuine value in producing upholstered furniture that you can sit really well on. It should be a joy: to truly relax, to sit back, to snuggle in and to feel completely at home. In order to achieve this, we have been producing highquality furniture for sitting on and relaxing in for over 60 years. Our loyal staff in Germany have been at our side; some from families who have been working with us for three generations. They work with passion and expertise to produce
branded upholstered furniture for all those who truly value a good chair.
The factory, founded by the Ørskov family, initially manufactured traditional machine components. In the 1990s, it was acquired by the Swiss company Attika. The name change to RAIS A/S marked the beginning of a new era.
Our driving force is constant development and quality without compromise. All of which results in exclusive, eye-catching solutions which cannot be found anywhere else.
Today RAIS has around 90 employees developing, designing and manufacturing wood burning stoves and accessories. The company exports nearly 90 percent of its products to Western Europe and the United States. Production and global distribution use Frederikshavn as a starting point.
Our driving force is constant development and quality, quality, quality.

R255 easy chair carries a strong graphic and minimal aesthetic which took shape in the research of a sharp geometric profile and a hypnotic identity.
The chair, made of 9 mm thick plywood molded in the most minimal yet poetic way, welcomes the body in a comfortable lay-back position. The bright, primary red elevates the chair to an abstract and mesmerizing composition, where the thin black lines of the frame finish the elegant drawing.

After years of working in the furniture industry, experimenting with the use of reclaimed teak wood in fun and unusual ways, Raymond Davids founded d-Bodhi in November 2007. Bodhi is Sanskrit for 'enlightenment' and 'awakened', to which he added the 'd' from his last name.
In 2010 our designers began adding other materials like recycled galvanized iron, old boat wood, used denim jeans and old license plates to create the distinctly d-Bodhi look. in 2013, we added rubber from old tires and recycled paper.
We've won numerous awards at the International Furniture Fair in Singapore, and our collections are recognized trendsetters by interior design magazines worldwide d-Bodhi products are now distributed in thirty countries across five continents.
d-Bodhi gives a monthly donation of 1,000 trees directly to the Trees4Trees Foundation™ for their environmental and humanitarian work. This not only helps you reduce your carbon footprint. It also has a positive impact in real people's lives. The small-scale farming families working with the foundation are among the most vulnerable economically. The trees are tangible investment in their future.
