"Nils Holger Moormann is like his furniture, his furniture is like him: ascetic, intelligent, humorous and stubborn. Whoever buys it, soon realizes it’s like inviting a wayward child into the home, one whose devotion needs first to be earned. But it will last a lifetime."
In our workshops in Aschau im Chiemgau furniture is created that at the first glance – and indeed at the second one – are somehow different to other furniture. This might well be because each step in the process evinces a certain self-deprecation and that for Nils Holger Moormann the ideas of corollary and simplicity are especially important. So, too, is the feeling that each object comes from the same stable exhibits a genuine authenticity. Due to its reduced and functional aesthetics, along with a precise choice of materials, furniture by Moormann is there to accompany you your whole life long. And if you ever move home you will learn just how easy the pieces are to dismantle and reassemble, their high degree of modularity dispenses by and large any need for tools.
The path a piece of Moormann furniture takes is a long one and starts with a good helping of enthusiasm for the product and its design. Inventiveness occurs because we rely as a rule on young designer talent (Herr Moormann himself maybe counted among them) and in house creative department. During the process we seek to connect sensibility, realisable aims and ecological aspects. In order to ensure the highest quality yet go easy on our resources, and to be able to react quickly to demands, we farm out much of our production to experience manufacturing partners. These workshops are all within a radius of 40 km around us. And it is in these regional centres of excellence that we find such a variety of specialist knowledge that lies between traditional handicraft techniques and modern manufacturing technology.

Nada Debs, of Lebanese origin, was raised in Japan. She studied interior architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States, starting her first company in the UK, designing and producing custom furniture.
After a 40 year hiatus, Nada Debs’ Levantine spirit brought her home to Beirut, where she discovered that designs for modern Middle Eastern furniture were non-existent. She then established her company East & East, where the brand fuses Eastern tradition and minimalism. Her multicultural approach attracted the attention of the design world. Today Nada operates from Beirut and is represented globally, delivering to the world.
The NADA DEBS mission is to celebrate Eastern craftsmanship through contemporary design. It is about reintroducing and reinterpreting local design by mixing Middle Eastern craft with Far Eastern sensibility, resulting in a fusion of East and East. New material versus traditional techniques result in innovative local craftsmanship with a strong design element. The quest for reviving and evolving our artistic heritage reflects the spirit of the ‘local in the global’ and the ‘global in the local’ otherwise dubbed as glocal. We like to bring awareness not only to the handmade, but also to the heartmade. It is the hand that makes what the heart creates. By emphasizing the spiritual importance of creating with one’s hands, the hand becomes a storyteller that guides us to preserve our narrative. With this in mind, we continue to push the boundaries of innovative craft.

We have developed our signature Bokja language with our materials and we start a conversation with the way we use them. We mix the old with the new, the pretty with the ugly, the brocade with the jute. We are constantly gathering bits and pieces, making more bits and pieces and gathering them again and again and again...
We react to events happening around us and the world and interpret the stories in our own voice.
Nestled in the heart of downtown Beirut, our Bokja Showroom is located in Saifi Village's Quartier Des Arts, a recently restored historic neighborhood which has become a destination for art galleries and designers. We occupy the ground floor of a 1950's structure off a street historically known for its carpenters' workshops.
The conversation and humor we introduce in each of our designs has also been used to build the environment of our showroom. In true Bokja spirit, it is a story with many layers: it is our gallery, it is our garden, it is where our minds meet. Over the years, we have pioneered for many social and environmental related events, and they all take place here.

ZELOUF+BELL - an intensely personal new modernism, a distillation of what delights and moves, informed by that which came before.
Studio furniture makers ZELOUF+BELL and their team of master craftsmen have been making museum-quality furniture to commission in their workshop in Ireland since 1992. Their award-winning work is in private collections, public offices, embassy residences, churches and museums, at home and abroad.
The alliance of Belfast-born Michael Bell and New Yorker Susan Zelouf may seem a collision of cultures and characters; instead, a kind of alchemy occurs, engendering extraordinary pieces grounded in practicality, a dialogue between art, design and history. “We don’t fit in, but for us that’s a strategy.” Theirs is an intensely personal new modernism, a distillation of what delights and moves them, informed by that which came before. ZELOUF+BELL are represented in New York by Maison Gerard, in Dublin by Solomon Fine Art and in the colourful Parisian showrooms of David Hicks France. The National Museum of Ireland acquired three Zelouf+Bell pieces for the museum's permanent collection.
Recent projects include the redesign of Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud (Ireland's only two star Michelin) and conference furniture for the Department of Enterprise and Employment, Kildare Street, Dublin.Zelouf+Bell garnered two awards at the Architectural Digest Show 2015; Best Decorative Accessory by IFDA (International Furnishing and Design Association) and Best Overall Craftsmanship by Adorno Magazine. Recent articles about their work appeared in Modern Magazine, Financial Times 'How To Spend It', The Sunday Times and The Irish Arts Review.

SAM VAN GURP x ESTHER JONGSMA
VANTOT is the collective title for the works of Esther Jongsma and Sam van Gurp. Both Eindhoven based designers graduated at Design Academy Eindhoven. Operating from The Netherlands VANTOT focuses on autonomous product design and commissioned work.
In 2014, Esther Jongsma (1990, Utrecht) and Sam van Gurp (1990, Breda) launched their own design studio called VANTOT. Esther and Sam both graduated from the Design academy Eindhoven in 2008-2009. Esther is outgoing and looks at her designs from a broad perspective: "I love to work with many people from different disciplines". Besides working on her own design collections, Esther also works as a project manager and coordinator for multiple projects and has already gained considerable experience in the design and realisation of exhibitions. Sam, in many ways, is the polar opposite of Esther and focuses on business development to the tiniest detail. Besides that, he is a real creator and a technician who loves to deal with progressive design questions.
The designs of studio VANTOT all encompass a certain complexity. For example, the pendant lamp series Exploded View and Limpid Lights. These series allow for the adjustment of the intensity of light and colour by moving the light source in the hood. Besides that, there is the Passage Carpet that creates intriguing optical effects by means of an intricate geometric pattern of layered wood as you walk by. According to Sam, who is often inspired by engineering works and ingenious movement mechanisms, the studio likes "to experiment with movement and new interpretations of familiar features". Furthermore, as explained by Esther, VANTOT aims "to involve the user differently”.

Anouchka Potdevin - upcycling, metalwork, patterns, each axis mixes with the other in a general harmony.
Trained to the applied arts and the smetalwork, Anouchka Potdevin affirms since 2003 a strong identity, making dialogue design and artisanal know–how, while freeing herself from the trends, with elegance and poetry. In Gaël – Brittany, France –, its workshop is a true space of freedom creative.
Its first years of creation are worn by design and realization of furniture and objects based on upcycling. Convinced that the upcycling can provide resolutely new and modern creations with a high degree of finitions, Anouchka brings new and innovating proposals.
In 2011, the Dsàt collection is presented during her first participation in Maison & Objet Paris, a turning in her career. The Maxi-Siège manufactured from a structure taken on old kitchen chairsgives a determining impulse. Since, the Dsàt family increases in the course of time. A low armless chair, a chair, a bench, a bench forthe children, the history continues to be written.
In 2013, the designer joins again with metalwork and carries out a singular seat. The Cage suspended or posed on the ground releases a romanticism which does seduce. We can find it now in a casino in Las Vegas, in Parisian hotels or at the edge of the North Sea.
In 2014, with the Screen in pattern paper made by friend artists and craftsmen, Anouchka repeats how much she is attached to all constructive and aesthetic collaborations.
Up–cycling, metalwork, patterns, each axis mixes with the other in a general harmony.
Today, Anouchka Potdevin falls under an exhaustive approach, evoking that of the artist–decorators. It brings a modernity which belongs only to her, which is distinguished in the landscape.
