Andrea Trimarchi (1983) and Simone Farresin (1980) are Studio Formafantasma, an Italian designers duo based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Their interest in product design developed on the IM master course at Design Academy Eindhoven, where they graduated in July 2009. Since then, Formafantasma has developed a coherent body of work characterised by experimental material investigations and explored issues such as the relationship between tradition and local culture, critical approaches to sustainability and the significance of objects as cultural conduits.
In perceiving their role as a bridge between craft, industry, object and user, they are interested in forging links between their research-based practice and a wider design industry. As a result, works by Studio Formafantasma have been commissioned by a variety of partners including Fendi, Max Mara - Sportmax, Hermès, Droog, Nodus rug, J&L Lobmeyr, Gallery Giustini - Stagetti/Galleria O. Roma, Gallery Libby Sellers, Established and Sons, Lexus, Krizia International and Flos. Whether designing for a client or investigating alternative applications of materials, Studio Formafantasma apply the same rigorous attention to context, process and detail to every project they undertake. The added nuance for the duo is that they do so with an eye to the historical, political and social forces that have shaped their environments.
Their work has been presented and published internationally and museums such as New York's MoMA, London’s Victoria and Albert, New York's Metropolitan Museum, the Chicago Art Institute, the TextielMuseum in Tilburg, the Stedelijk’s-Hertogenbosch, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, MUDAC Lausanne, the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in North Carolina and the MAK Museum in Vienna have all acquired Formafantasma’s designs for their permanent collections. In March 2011 Paola Antonelli of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and esteemed design critic Alice Rawsthorn listed their studio amongst a handful of practices that would shape the future of design.
Andrea and Simone are lecturing and heading workshops in various Universities and Institutions. Currently they are teaching at the ‘Well Being’ and 'Contextual Design' Departments of the Design Academy Eindhoven. Since October 2016, they are at the head of the Design bachelor at MADE Program in Siracusa, Italy.

KLOVE STUDIO - dedication to local craftsmen, commitment to experimentation and interest in research.
Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth began klove studio in 2006 with the goal of making light products that merged fantasy, reality, functionality and design. Bent on experimentation and inspired by the skills they learnt from working with traditional Indian craftsmen. The duo began to hone their dream of creating a hands-on, locally grounded brand that was synonymous with the highest quality of hand blown glass possible.
Now, more than a decade in to business, klove has become a globally applauded brand. Employing over sixty highly skilled workers, the brand has developed a wide range of products that span larger than life 3D installations and basic, functional lighting for the home. Each product is stamped with what has become klove’s signature: bold, refined design that borrows equally from Prateek and Gautam’s roots Indian roots and their love for global travel and adventure.
klove's Founders Partners in business and adventure, Prateek and Gautam have built a strong, enviable partnership. Their collective interests span travel, yoga, horticulture and the arts; these passions, and their differing personal preferences within them, add complex dimensions to their design inspirations. The striking commonality between Prateek and Gautam --that lies at the core of the klove philosophy -- is their dedication to local craftsmen, commitment to experimentation and interest in research. Furthermore, the duo always prioritize local, hands-on practical experience above any other form of learning; getting their hands dirty while working with fragile materials is a particular experience they thrive on.

It is every architect’s dream to build with light. The Stickbulb collection takes this aspiration literally. Sleek wooden beams come in one to six foot lengths and are designed to plug into and out of various steel hardware connectors without tools. The result is a light-up erector set of interchangeable components that allows for unlimited customization and creativity.
Inspired by a pile of long linear wooden cut-offs in their workshop, RUX designers challenged themselves to develop a truly sustainable lighting system. As a starting point, they only considered designs that could be manufactured locally and affordably within a five mile radius of their New York City office. They chose to use reclaimed and sustainably sourced woods as a primary building material, and sourced energy efficient LED technologies and components. The collection was designed with the least number of parts possible and with connections that make the pieces easy to separate for maintenance, recycling, or reuse.
Stickbulb was co-founded in 2012 by RUX Founder and Creative Director Russell Greenberg, and Partner Christopher Beardsley.

SAM VAN GURP x ESTHER JONGSMA
VANTOT is the collective title for the works of Esther Jongsma and Sam van Gurp. Both Eindhoven based designers graduated at Design Academy Eindhoven. Operating from The Netherlands VANTOT focuses on autonomous product design and commissioned work.
In 2014, Esther Jongsma (1990, Utrecht) and Sam van Gurp (1990, Breda) launched their own design studio called VANTOT. Esther and Sam both graduated from the Design academy Eindhoven in 2008-2009. Esther is outgoing and looks at her designs from a broad perspective: "I love to work with many people from different disciplines". Besides working on her own design collections, Esther also works as a project manager and coordinator for multiple projects and has already gained considerable experience in the design and realisation of exhibitions. Sam, in many ways, is the polar opposite of Esther and focuses on business development to the tiniest detail. Besides that, he is a real creator and a technician who loves to deal with progressive design questions.
The designs of studio VANTOT all encompass a certain complexity. For example, the pendant lamp series Exploded View and Limpid Lights. These series allow for the adjustment of the intensity of light and colour by moving the light source in the hood. Besides that, there is the Passage Carpet that creates intriguing optical effects by means of an intricate geometric pattern of layered wood as you walk by. According to Sam, who is often inspired by engineering works and ingenious movement mechanisms, the studio likes "to experiment with movement and new interpretations of familiar features". Furthermore, as explained by Esther, VANTOT aims "to involve the user differently”.

Founded in 2003, SONNEMAN – A Way of Light is a tribute to contemporary lighting design as seen through the creative mind and lens of Robert Sonneman. "My lights are strongly influenced by creative processes in architecture. The illuminants LED and OLED have completely opened new ways for design. In my designs I always pay attention to harmony between content and form. What is feasible? What makes sense when working with the new technologies? In which direction are we going?"
In 2006 the company benwirth licht was founded in Munich. Our studio is workshop, showroom and "science lab", it is a room to experiment, to build and to exhibit. This is where we design exclusive lights and lighting systems, customized lights and one-offs, with a main focus on LED illumination. Lee Broom is one of the UK’s leading product & interior designers. Since 2007 he has released over 75 furniture and lighting products, which he designs and manufactures under his own label and has created more than 20 products for other brands. He has also designed over 40 commercial retail, restaurant, bar and residential interiors.
He has won more than 20 awards including the prestigious British Designer of the Year Award in 2012 and won his 4th award in 3 consecutive years in the British Design Awards for his renowned lighting product, the ‘Crystal Bulb’ in 2013.
In April 2015 Lee Broom received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the UK’s highest accolade for business success. The company received the award in the category of International Trade, in recognition of achieving significant international growth and increased year on year export figures.
A supporter of British manufacturing techniques, Broom designs, manufactures and retails his own collections, in addition to collaborating with leading brands including Christian Louboutin, Mulberry and Matthew Williamson.
Having started out in theatre school - a beginning which has greatly influenced the sense of drama and narrative that his collections create - Broom’s career took a change of direction after he won a fashion design competition at the age of 17. This led him to meet and then go onto work for the legendary designer Vivienne Westwood, after which he studied for a degree in fashion design at Central St Martins. Fashion is still a great source of inspiration and The Guardian commented, “Lee Broom is to furniture what Marc Jacobs or Tom Ford are to fashion.”
During his degree, Broom provided décor advice to a number of independent bars across London, which cemented an organic move into interior design. In 2007 the Lee Broom label was launched with his first furniture collection entitled ‘Neo Neon’ which received critical acclaim and since then he has launched two new collections each year during Milan Design Week and The London Design Festival, which sell globally. His products are now sold in over 120 stores and in 40 countries worldwide.
Lee Broom has been described by The Financial Times as “Among the most respected British Talents”.

Founded in 2013 with a showroom and production located in Mexico City
We are a team of designers, engineers and makers based in Mexico and Austria. David Pompa grew up in both countries and studied product design in London. Studio davidpompa's corporate culture is driven by the love for the work we do. The deep respect for materials and craftsmen drives us as a brand to redefine Mexican craft.
The idea to work with Mexican craft started with a trip to Oaxaca in 2009 where David saw artisans work with "Barro Negro" for the first time. He started directly working and experimenting the material which lead to his first collection. Since then, we as a Studio, are committed to Mexican culture and find ourselves on a constant journey to create design objects that are both beautifully crafted and accessible.
Challenging the boundaries of culture, product and material is essential when taking a new path to do something truly new. We combine traditional materials and crafts with our passion for perfection.

Arturo Álvarez is an established recognized creator both inside and outside of Spain, by his conceptual contributions to the world of design lightening. He was born in Pontevedra, Spain, in 1964. From the beginning he develops an own style with strong personality. He handles shapes, volumes and light sources fluently in a simple and elegant way, masterfully mixing them and bringing a new vision of creative lighting, coming to conceive in the spaces surprising scenographic and light staging. Currently he continues to explore different lines of work and expression.
In the early nineties he gets interested in the flat glass and learns the techniques of stained glass and tiffany for making lamps. He starts creating luminaries, from ancient techniques, but with a language of its time, contemporary, with Art deco and Art nouveu touches. Over the years he walks and identifies with the Bauhaus concepts of joining and reviewing shapes, volumes, prospects and plans to a careful craftwork.
There are three defined times in the career of Arturo Alvarez. In the early years he explores and works with figurative concepts based on nature. In a second time he progresses toward abstraction exploring simple geometric shapes without abandoning references to nature, it appears the female body, a theme that is repeated and which he keeps on researching along the years. Arturo Álvarez is currently developing new forms of expression, with light as his guiding thread and with the human being and its relations as the main subject, with its lights and shadows, encounters and missed encounters, issues of concern and he deepens from different techniques.
In the last ten years he has been conducting a comprehensive experimental and research work to develop his own materials that allow him a more creative freedom and expressiveness. He takes them out of their common uses, mixing them and transforming them into something new and unique. He creates and patents SIMETECH®, a translucent material which can be molded to obtain different textures.
