New Orleans Week <> Southern Design Week - fashion shows that are designer focused, and provide market opportunities.
Who says Fashion Week has to only be in New York? Fashion and design in the South is a rapidly growing industry, and some of the most up-and-coming talents in the region present their work every spring and fall at the biannual Southern Design Week in New Orleans.
Previously known as “Nola Fashion Week,” Southern Design Week is hosted biannually by the Southern Coalition of Fashion & Designto provide Southern based apparel designers with the opportunity to show off their work.
With its new branding, Southern Design Week continues to blow viewers away with both local talent and big names in the fashion industry. Past talent has included Project Runway alumni Matthew Arthur, Anne Cassidy of New Orleans lifestyle brand C.Major, and New York based designer Lela Orr.
Throughout the weeks several events are held at various hand picked locations around the city to showcase Southern designers, as well as the history and charm of New Orleans. Special events usually include runway shows, presentations, cocktail parties and more!
Founded by Andi Eaton, the Southern Coalition of Fashion & Design is an organization supporting the apparel design community in the South. The mission of Southern Design Week is to create fashion shows that are designer focused, and provide market and educational opportunities all year long. As New Orleans’ fashion week expands across the South with a new name and brand, there remains an emphasis on both the individual as a designer and the process of creation. The primary goal of Southern Design Week is to support southern makers and the design community in growing sustainable roots.
