Around the Hotel Longchamps you will see the old villas and gardens from that period. It is a safe upscale district and from here you can walk to the Egyptian museum. At sunset just across from the island, you can cruise on one of our local sailboats called”Felukas”, a perfect way to end the day before a good and quiet night sleep at the Hotel Longchamps.

H12 is a global collection of art and lifestyle hotels, that was created with the idea of putting “a bed into an art gallery”. H12 works with a concept story of 12 local and international artists for each of its iconic properties to create a “Glocal” atmosphere and a stimulating experience. The number 12 also represents the hours of the day and night, months in the year and the eastern and western zodiac signs. The “H” in H12 stands for the passionate heart of the hosts who make friends out of guests. We create happy, humble, hugging, healthy, humorous, homemade and hip experiences.
Walter Junger is the creator and CEO of this global Austrian hotel brand, and started the company in 2012 with the H12original on top of the Alps in the southern Austrian Province of Carinthia.
In 2014, the Chinese hotel group, Plateno Group, was looking to gain a foothold in the international arena. Alex Zheng, the co-chairman and founder of 7 Days Inn and Plateno was looking for visionary hotel projects. He came across the art and lifestyle hotel concept by Walter Junger and felt an instant affinity, following a joint venture between Walter Junger, Alex Zheng and Plateno Group was formed on 12.12.2014.
The joint venture company, H12 (HK) Ltd. was established, and its headquarter was set-up in Hong Kong. At the same time, regional offices were opened in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Berlin, Salzburg and Nairobi. Since then, nine management contracts and investment partnerships have been signed across four continents.
H12 stands for new luxury. No pompous marble lobbies and no crystal chandeliers unless hanging from a tree for a romantic dinner for two. The locations are remote and spectacular or urban and iconic. Walter’s motto says it all: “Put service first and success will follow”. The naked truth or more commonly known the company vision is for H12 to grow its portfolio to 30 unique art and lifestyle hotels. Iconic places, stimulating art and warm, relaxed yet efficient service making friends out of H12 guests. Offering locally grown tasty food, the brand’s own wines and cool music, creates a synergic mix of East and West.
H12 – Sleeping in an art gallery:
Picasso says: “There is the artist that makes a yellow spot out of the sun, but there is also the artist that creates the sun out of a yellow spot”.
H12 is an artistic hub that always features 12 main artists. Every hotel doubles as an art gallery, featuring various global and local artists. H12 also runs an “Artist in Residence” program. The guests have the opportunity to directly watch, communicate, and sometimes participate in the creative process. Discovering H12 leaves you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller.
Opened in 2012, H12original is located in Carinthia, Austria at 1750 meters above sea level, directly next to 63 kilometers of powdery ski slopes. From a Mountain Inn to a modern Work of Art:

... with 12 rooms and suites
... curated by 12 international artists
... a 12-meter long art installation of 12 naked world and olympic ski champions

Volcanoes National Park is situated in northwestern Rwanda and is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Since reopening in 1999, it has experienced a growing number of visitors each day, thanks in large part to its role as the world’s most popular mountain gorilla sanctuary. With fewer than 700 of this species left, tourists can catch a rare glimpse of the gorillas as they can nowhere else in the world. Beyond gorillas, however, Volcanoes National Park park is also able to offer some of the country’s most spectacular scenery and diverse vegetation. It is part of the Virunga Conservation Area and covers more than 125km2, including five extinct volcanoes: Muhabura, Sabyinyo, Gahinga, Karisimbi and Bisoke. The latter two can be climbed during one or two-day treks.
Against this backdrop, tourists can hike through the lush bamboo and Hygenia rainforest, open grassland and swamp of the Volcanoes National Park to discover golden monkeys, bush duiker, buffalo and spotted hyenas. You will not have to listen too hard before you hear one of the 178 recorded bird species in the park. Look through the gaps in the dense forest canopy and you will also see the breathtaking peaks of the volcanoes standing tall at over 4,500m.
Volcanoes national park was become famous as the research base of the late American primatologist Dian Fossey and, subsequently, as the setting for the film Gorillas in the Mist. The park continues to uphold its reputation as a destination for unrivaled wildlife encounters and at the edges of Mt. Sabyinyo are also where you will find Fossey’s tomb, as she was buried among the gorillas she grew to love so dearly.
Experienced guides will take you through this impressive montane ecosystem, where you can witness the sights and sounds of the heart of Africa.

Olu Amoda is an internationally celebrated Nigerian sculptor, muralist, furniture designer, and multi-media artist whose iconic work using repurposed materials and metal expresses the very best of modern African sensibility. Amoda was born in Warri in the Niger Delta in 1959 to his father, a goldsmith, with whom there seems to be evidence of some subtle interdependence of a ‘flaming’ strength drawn from the sole element of consanguinity apparent in the art of both father and son.
He graduated in sculpture from Auchi Polytechnic in 1983, and was awarded a Masters of Fine Arts from Georgia Southern University in the United States in 2009. He has worked as an Artist-in-Residence in Villa Arson in Nice, France (2000), the Bag Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa (2003), at the Appalachian Statue University, in Boone, North Carolina (2006) and at the New York Design Museum (2010).
His work is housed in local and international collections including with the New Ark Museum in New Jersey, USA.. He has exhibited around the world, including at the Skoto Gallery and at the Museum of Art & Design in New York, at the Georgia Southern University in the United States, at the Didi Museum, Alliance Francaise, Goethe Institute & the Nimbus Art Centre in Nigeria, at the 6th Biennale de L’Art African Contemporain in Dakar, Senegal, at The World Intellectual Property Organization [WIPO] Headquarters, in Geneva, Switzerland, and with the current touring exhibition of “out of the ordinary” organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in the United Kingdom. A journey through the Sahara, From Marrakech to Timbuktu
In recent years, the Tiskiwin Museum has focused on the presentation of the material culture of the Berber populations of Saharan origin. These populations are commonly called Berbers north of the Sahara and Tuaregs in the south, but they call themselves Imazighen (Amazigh sing) The permanent exhibition is conceived as a journey on the old caravan trails linking North Africa to the Sahel.
It has as theme and guiding thread the Art of the Set On the itinerary followed the traveler visitor meets the different populations at times of their social life - festivities, weekly markets - when each individual deals more specifically with the image that he wants to give of himself. It does so primarily with the help of body care and trimmings. These are part of a codified language which informs about the "tribal" belonging and the social status of the person who carries them, but leaves to the individual a margin of freedom which allows him to affirm his personality.
The study of forms and techniques used in ornaments often reveals aspects of the history of these populations that neither written sources nor oral traditions mention. In each of the ten stages are also presented objects or elements of architecture that are part of the interior decoration of the habitat. The form of this is determined by the way of life of the inhabitants (nomadic or sedentary) Materials for the realization of objects or the construction of habitat are often the products of agriculture and livestock (leather, wool, millet stems), next to materials taken in the natural environment.

From 1625 to 1900, 12 kings succeeded one another at the head of the powerful Kingdom of Abomey. With the exception of King Akaba, who had his own separate enclosure, they all had their palaces built within the same cob-wall area, in keeping with previous palaces as regards the use of space and materials.
The Royal Palaces of Abomey are a unique reminder of this vanished kingdom.
The major material testimony to the Kingdom of Dahomey which developed from the mid-17th century in accordance with the precept enunciated by its founder, Wegbaja, “that the kingdom shall always be made greater”. Under the twelve kings who succeeded from 1625 to 1900, the kingdom established itself as one of the most powerful of the western coast of Africa.
Today, the palaces are no longer inhabited, but those of King Ghézo and King Glélé house the Historical Museum of Abomey, which illustrates the history of the kingdom and its symbolism through a desire for independence, resistance and fight against colonial occupation.
